Impoppable is BTD6’s hardest non-CHIMPS difficulty — and it breaks most players on their first attempt. One bloon gets through and your run is over. No second chances, no lives to spare. It sounds brutal, and it is. But with the right setup, Impoppable is actually very manageable once you understand its specific rules.
What Makes Impoppable Different from Other Modes
Impoppable has four specific rule changes that separate it from Hard mode:
- 1 life only — A single bloon reaching the exit ends your run immediately
- No tower selling — Once you place a tower, you cannot sell it. Placement mistakes are permanent.
- Starting cash: $650 — Less than Hard ($800) and significantly less than Easy ($850)
- Bloons have 40% more HP — Every bloon, including MOABs and BFBs, requires more damage to pop
Impoppable goes to Round 100 and beyond on freeplay. For the base completion medal, you need to survive through Round 100.
Best Heroes for Impoppable
Obyn Greenfoot (Best Overall)
Obyn’s Wall of Trees ability can delete entire bloon waves — which is crucial when you have zero lives to spare. His passive damage boost to primary towers is strong in the early game when your budget is tight. Place him centrally to maximize tree coverage.
Gwendolin
Gwendolin’s Firestorm ability is exceptional against grouped bloon waves. Her passive camo detection and heat boost for nearby towers make her strong in mid-game. Best used on open maps where her heat aura covers multiple tower positions.
Ezili
Ezili’s Heartstop ability insta-kills a MOAB-class bloon — essential for Impoppable where a single BAD or DDT getting through means game over. She also generates cash passively via her sacrifice mechanic.

Best Towers for Impoppable

Tier 1 Priorities (Rounds 1–30)
- Dart Monkey (3-0-0 or 2-3-0): Cheap, reliable early coverage. Triple Dart at 2-0-0 handles grouped bloons well.
- Ice Monkey (2-0-3): Freeze + Cryo Cannon combo handles grouped rounds efficiently
- Wizard Monkey (2-0-0): Handles camo and regrowth bloons that spike in early-mid game
Tier 2 Priorities (Rounds 30–60)
- Super Monkey (2-0-3): Robo Monkey with Nuclear Strike cross-path becomes devastating around round 40
- Ninja Monkey (2-0-4): Bloon Sabotage ability cuts all MOAB-class HP by 50% temporarily — use it on MOAB waves
- Sniper Monkey (0-0-2): Supply Drop passive generates free cash each round — essential for economy
Late Game (Rounds 60–100)
- Dartling Gunner (4-0-2): Laser Cannon with Powerful Darts shreds MOAB-class bloons
- Monkey Village (0-2-0): Monkey Intelligence Bureau gives all nearby towers camo detection — removes the biggest liability in late Impoppable
- Banana Farm (3-0-2): BRF with Backroom Deals cross-path for passive income
Impoppable Strategy — Round by Round
Rounds 1–20 (Survive with Minimum Spend)
Start with 2–3 Dart Monkeys covering the full path. Upgrade one to 2-0-0 (Triple Dart) by round 10. Add a Ninja Monkey for camo detection around round 12. Don’t overspend — save cash for your hero and first BRF.
Place your hero (Obyn recommended) by round 8–10. His passive buffs start paying off immediately.
Rounds 20–40 (Economy Phase)
Build your first BRF (3-0-2) by round 20–25. This generates ~$375/round passively. By round 35, build a second BRF. Your primary defense should be stable enough to handle this phase without heavy tower investment.
Watch for the ceramic wave at round 36 — it’s a common early wipe point. Have Obyn’s Wall of Trees ready.
Rounds 40–60 (Strengthen Defense)
Upgrade your best tower to Tier 4 by round 40. Dartling Gunner (4-0-2) or Super Monkey (4-0-2) are strong choices. Add a Monkey Village with MIB (0-2-0) to handle the camo bloons that appear in rounds 42–56.
Keep your BRFs running — by round 60 you should have $8,000–$12,000 in liquid cash saved.
Rounds 60–80 (MOAB Class Surge)
This is the hardest stretch. BFBs appear consistently from round 63+. Your tower lineup needs at least one dedicated MOAB-class popper:
- Ninja Monkey 0-0-5 (Grand Saboteur) — 50% HP reduction ability
- Super Monkey 2-0-5 (True Sun God) — nuclear-level DPS
- Dartling Gunner 4-0-2 — consistent MOAB shred
Rounds 80–100 (Final Push)
Rounds 80–100 feature DDTs (camo, lead, fast) and BADs. Make sure you have:
- 100% camo detection coverage (MIB Village or camo towers)
- Lead-popping power (Bomb Shooter or Wizard)
- A high-DPS Tier 5 tower for BAD damage
Round 100 ends the run. If you’re attempting a freeplay run beyond 100, upgrade your farms to Banana Central and invest in a Paragon. See our Paragon guide for the Paragon unlock strategy.
Common Impoppable Mistakes
- Placing towers that block pathing: You can’t sell in Impoppable. A misplaced tower is permanent. Think before you click.
- No camo coverage: Camo bloons first appear around round 24. Without detection, they walk straight through.
- Skipping economy: Players who go pure combat without any Banana Farms run out of cash by round 60 and can’t upgrade their towers.
- No ability usage: Hero abilities are powerful and have cooldowns. Use them proactively, not in panic.
For harder game modes, read our CHIMPS mode guide — CHIMPS is a stricter version of Impoppable with additional restrictions. If you can beat CHIMPS, Impoppable feels straightforward by comparison.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Impoppable mode in BTD6?
Impoppable runs rounds 1–100 with only 1 life, no Monkey Knowledge, and bloons have significantly increased health. It's harder than standard Hard mode but easier than CHIMPS economically.
What towers are best for Impoppable in BTD6?
Ninja Monkey (Grandmaster), Alchemist (Berserk Brew), Banana Farm (Wall Street), and Dartling Gunner (M.A.D.) form the most reliable Impoppable core strategy.
What round is most dangerous in Impoppable mode?
Rounds 95–100 are critical — the BAD on round 100 has 20,000 health and will end your run if you lack sufficient MOAB damage by that point.
How is Impoppable different from CHIMPS in BTD6?
Impoppable allows Monkey Knowledge, selling towers, and has starting cash. CHIMPS disables all of these. Impoppable has tougher bloons; CHIMPS has tougher economic restrictions.
